Steppe Reverie Korpe Mat
This “korpe” mat is handmade using the finest quality wool. Following a centuries-old technique, Ala kiyiz, our artisans form intricate patterns of colored wool, which are then permanently embedded in the felt.
“Korpe” mats have traditionally been used by nomads to replace furniture, such as chairs, tables, and carpets. Beautiful and practical, they were often passed onto the next generation, or used as a dowry.
Discover our Dala collection - a unique blend of cushions and korpe mats that journey through the soul of road trips, the vastness of steppes, and the vivid colors of Central Asian landscapes. Taking its name from the Kazakh word for “steppe,” this collection is inspired by the vibrant hues of native flora of the region.
Ala kiyiz is a traditional Kyrgyz textile technique used to create intricately patterned creations. This ancient craft has been passed down through generations and holds great cultural significance in Kyrgyzstan.
