About us
Our brand takes its name from the traditional Central Asian yurt, a symbol of nomadic culture and hospitality. Inspired by the yurt's unique blend of functionality and beauty, we embrace this spirit, weaving it into every thread of our creations.
Founded amidst the lockdown in 2021, Yourta is the first brand to fuse the heritage of Central Asia’s nomads with contemporary design to make high-end yurts for modern living. Practical, resilient, and beautiful. Today, Yourta yurts have found their place all around the world, from the Central Asian steppes to the Balearic islands. We collaborate with craftspeople whose skills have been passed down over centuries.
Our founder
Borne from her Kazakh heritage and a passion for contemporary living, Dameli Kaliyeva founded YOURTA amidst the pandemic in 2021.
While being stuck in quarantine, Dameli yearned for the sense of escape. She recalled times in her childhood when she enjoyed family moments, friends gatherings and sleepovers in a yurt in the backyard of her house. Just like so many of us, she felt the need to connect, to have a place of restoration. Thus, the search for the yurt began.
In her quest for a yurt reminiscent of her childhood, she faced a flooded market of cheap, mass-produced alternatives. Witnessing the erosion of the yurt's heritage and craftsmanship, frustration took hold. Dameli saw that the rush for affordability had compromised quality and meaning, something that used to be deeply valued by her ancestors. This ignited a mission to restore the yurt's essence. Through collaborating with artisans who shared her dedication, Dameli set on a journey to crafting a new narrative where quality and tradition were revived.

We have collaborated with DUNIE, the art and design studio founded by designer Assel Nussipkozhanova and architect Akhat Baimenov.
From their base in Almaty, DUNIE has created exquisite iterations of yurt décor and homeware, exclusively for YOURTA. We are honored to bring this fine design to the wider world and to share it with you.
